Red Hong Yi

Red Hong Yi, an artist-architect known as “the artist who paints without a paintbrush,” creates mixed media art using everyday materials. Her viral 2012 video, where she used a basketball to paint a portrait of Yao Ming, launched her career. She has since created works with objects like chopsticks, socks, and coffee cup stains, amassing millions of views. Red has been featured in major media outlets such as The Wall Street Journal and CNN, and gained global recognition with her 2021 TIME Magazine cover on climate change.
